You will find fans who absolutely love country music. Then, you will find the ones that hate country music. You have your hardcore rapper fans who just don’t give a care about any country-bumpkin playing the guitar talking about a house they used to live in. They want to hear about the money and the diamonds and the girls they can get to come to their beach house. Now, even though some country songs like ‘Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy’ have gotten a little “dirty,” they still don’t make it to the level that non country music fans want to constantly listen to. There is something about the melody and the actual background music that just don’t fit into some people’s taste in music. There are several reasons why people hate country music but we narrowed it down to five of the main reasons we think that people hate country music.
1) Songs Always Tell a Sad Story
Country songs always seem to make people cry. Of course, some lift up your spirits, but most just make you weep and whine. How are you supposed to get over the person you love when you keep hearing this country song that plays out every single moment you had with them. People who want to listen to music don’t want to hear about the time you were two and went fishing with your friend and they fell over the ledge. How awful is that? Don’t you think that the song might just put a damper in your day? Music fans might hate country music for this exact reason that the songs tell sad stories that make you even more depressed than you already are. Americans don’t want to add another anti-depressant to the list just from listening to country music so they end up hating country music instead.
2) You Can Only Line Dance to the Beats
It’s 2011 and people on the dance floor don’t want to put on music so they can line dance in the club. This is why country music is usually not played in the club unless it is a remix version. People hate country music because they can’t get down and dirty the way they want to. The rhythm and the beat is basically made for line dancing and not swiveling hips like Shakira does. Music lovers who are also dancer lovers can’t connect with country music the same way they do with other genres like hip-hop and R & B. No girl wants to be wearing sequin high heels to go line dancing and no guy wants to ask a girl to dance with him to a country song. (Unless it’s one of the slow sad ones we just talked about)
3) There Is Only One Black Country Singer
People could possibly hate country music because there is hardly any diversity. You see one type of country singer and it’s the white rednecks that come from the south. Where are the different races, here? Is there only one type of race that can be a country singer? It’s actually not even about the color or the ethnicity, it’s about the voice. People might hate country music because there isn’t a variety of different sounds. Sure, you might be able to tell one country singer from the other if you actually listen to them. Unfortunately, for those who don’t listen to country music that often, you would never know the difference. Pop music has different varieties and styles like Rihanna and Mike Posner. You can tell who is singing right off the bat.
4) Their Style
The style the country singers often have isn’t the greatest which effects their fans for their music. People who ate country music always see the video and the clothes they were wearing in it when they listen to a song. Once they see that redneck style that doesn’t change much, they can’t get that vision out of their heads. They don’t want to listen to songs that make them think of a flock of sheep and flannel.
5) Their Accent
It can be hard at times to understand what country singers are even saying. Hating country music can be caused from not really liking their accent. The deep southern accents are great, but people who hate country music don’t usually like that southern twang that they have going on in each of their songs. It’s basically they way it sounds when they hear the accent in the country music. It drives them away and helps them to turn the channel of the radio or television.
